Why are we afraid of consequences?

It is my parenting weakness. I fail regularly to let my children experience the full brunt of natural or logical consequences even when God knows this is the most direct path to becoming a mature, independent learner.

Why do I

Acton Academy sets up the clearest path to learning through choices and consequences. With grace and community support built in, the Eagles have a clearly documented system of progression through levels of freedom based on hard work, kind-heartedness and tough-mindedness.  There are no surprises.

So why do I fight this when it gets hard? Why do I blame a school (even my own school!) when my child faces losing freedoms?
