Word #72. Intention.
What do you intend to do today with your time, your relationships, your body, your mind?
This proactive stance to living and learning fends off a victim mentality. No longer are others to blame. You are captain of your ship. You are responsible, capable and free.
Children can learn the mental discipline of setting an intention with simple discussions around the kitchen table. (At Acton this happens each day in small groups or with running partners.) Write them down, and return at the end of the day to reflect adding in the question, “Is there anything you’ll do differently tomorrow?” This easy practice soon becomes a habit of continual improvement.
When you know your intention, your attention follows like wind in your sail. Together – intention and attention – set the trajectory of your life.
